When my son starting dripping drool down his chin at 4 months old I thought it was cute but when he was over a year old and I was still changing shirts and bibs all day it wasn’t so cute anymore. The neck of his onesie was often wet and many of our bibs irritated the back of his neck. Thankfully new parents no longer have to deal with that thanks to Cheekie Charlie! Founder, Mom and designer Carla developed a line of stylish, interchangeable bibs that snap directly to bodysuits. The machine washable sets come with one bodysuit (available in sizes 0-18 months) and three bibs that are backed with terry cloth making them super absorbable and super easy to change.
Carla’s designs are growing with her daughter and she now offers unique graphic printed tees for toddlers, Cheekie Tees. Check out my crew happily sporting one style in the sibling series. My son gave his own review by telling me “Mommy, they are so soft and they don’t have a big scratchy tag!”.
We were lucky enough to get to spend some time with Carla and learn more about Cheekie Charlie:
I launched Cheekie Charlie December 2012, being lucky enough to stay home and watch my daughter grow has been the biggest inspiration. As a new mom, I learned something new and faced a different challenge every day.
You have now expanded beyond the interchangeable bibs +bodysuits to toddler tees…tells us more about how that came to be.
The brand is 100% Charlie inspired, mommy designed. With the bibs, I had a drooling baby that would not wear a regular bib, so I wanted to fix the problem. Now that my daughter is almost 3, she’s inspiring the Cheekie Tee line. The shirts are inspired from everyday life with a toddler. For example, we are learning numbers, shapes, different animals and trying to make light of the occasional whining.
Where can we buy your bibs + bodysuits and tees?
All our items are sold on our website: www.cheekiecharlie.com
Is there one piece of baby gear you couldn’t live without?
Sleep Sheep, my daughter is going to be 3 and still loves falling asleep to the sound of the ocean!
What does your daily schedule look like? How do you divide your time and priorities between your daughter, your husband, your home and your business?
Family is my number 1 priority and I am lucky to have a very supportive husband. Our day starts about 630am, with Charlie asking from her bedroom, “Is it morning yet?” I am grateful for the 2 hours of nursery school and the occasional afternoon nap which allows me to get some design and Cheekie Charlie work done. It sounds crazy, but you get very productive after having kids! The days are long but the years are fast, I can’t believe she is going to be three.
Do you have any advice to a mom that wants to start her own business?
Do what you love! Design has always been a part of my life, and I get to combine my two loves. At the end of the day, spending time with Charlie is my number one priority, so anything that takes my time away from her has to be worth it.
I love what Carla said, “The days are long but the years are fast”. AND the days are really long when you are changing a baby’s clothes all day so we are excited that Carla is allowing us to giveaway a Cheekie Charlie bib set! Enter below! xoxo, Julie
